VHS or Beta? Yes!
Nic Harcourt comes through to rock my world again.
I was listening to KCRW this morning when Harcourt spun a single by VHS or Beta, a New York band with a sound that's straight out of 1984. And I don't mean derivitive - it's like a direct channel to the earliest days of 120 Minutes. This is really solid stuff - great songs, sparkly production. They stream several songs on their website www.vhsorbeta.com, including the stellar single "Night on Fire" and jeez...I'd forgotten how long it's been since I've hard some rock that I could actually dance to.
Right on. I love new music, even when it sounds as old as this. Don't forget to raise your hands over your head and clap to the beat during the breakdown chorus!
