Passamaquoddy Revisited
There's this inner Hal Wilner inside me that would love to produce an interpretive cover, song-for-song, of the complete soundtrack to Disney's 1977 classic Pete's Dragon with multiple artists and musicians reinventing the tracks as inspiration dictates. The only unchangeable constant on the entire CD is that Bjork must sing all of Pete's parts and Busta Rhymes must voice Elliott the Dragon's parts on "Boop BopBop Bop (I Love You Too)".
So I need help casting the other tracks :-) With Pete's exception, different singers can voice other characters in separate songs. I'm open to all genres and styles, but the artist must play the material straight - the idea isn't camp or sappy nostalgia (think Tom Waits instead of Weird Al or Rockapella). Singing in English is
not required.
A couple more off the top of my head: Snoop Dogg as Doc Terminus in "Passamashloddy", and Marilyn Manson would tear the shit out of "Every Little Piece." The Polyphonic Spree on "Brazzle Dazzle Day," Evanessence angsting "Candle On The Water" up a notch, "Bill of Sale" by Reel Big Fish.
