Simba's sick
I'm worried about Simba and I'm taking him to the vet ASAP.
About two weeks ago, Simba came home looking as through he'd been in a tussle. Nothing serious, but one whisker looked like it'd been torn off. Well, the little wound looked to be healing. Then about a week ago I noticed his eyes were reddish and leaking what looked like the typical matter cats secrete with a cold. A couple days later, Simba looked much better. Now today he's caughing and he doesn't look well at all. I'm getting nervous.
The area round where the original "wound" was and up around his nose is now bumpy and slightly discolored. My research on the web would seem to indicate an abcess or some kind of fungal infection. He doesn't like me to touch his nose there. This entire time, Simba has behaved 100% normally. Even today his overall level of energy seems fine. He sleeps a lot, but no more than he has.
So yesterday I picked him up and thought he felt lighter. Today I picked him up and he just didn't feel like Simba. He's lost weight. And if he's eating somewhat normally and still getting thin, something's up that I don't like one bit. A treatable parasite I can deal with, but I hate to think he fought with an animal that had something lethal in its blood.
Shit - I just realized tomorrow's Sunday. I may have to consider the emergency vet. So I tried to get a picture of his nose and the one with the flash came out best. Though be warned it makes Simba look really sour, an apression he isn't walking around with. Still, this picture freaked me out. You can see how much weight he's lost, and he's lost it fairly quickly. It became really noticible today. I mean, I thought he was recovering the other day to it being unavoidably visible. Even his coat is lackluster today.
You can see the discoloration and bumps on his nose. Oddly enough it reminds me of Viktor Yuschenko from Ukraine. I'll keep everbody posted, but keep him in your thoughts and send him love and prayers and good vibes.
