Jason Bentley, Santa Clara, California: writing, photography, graphic design, music, audio, video, technology, life

Mixed up

I'm online from Santa Clara's swanky library where, seemingly alone in Silicon Valley, they offer wireless interent from anywhere in this huge, cushy, plush place. Sunnyvale makes you use their stand-up terminals for no more than 15 minutes, and Mountain View (also mighty cushy for a public library) makes you bring your own cat-5 cable. It's funny how Mountain View contstantly strives for cosmopolitainity and yet still finds ways to render themselves undeniably quaint.

Ah, how much one can accomplish - albeit tortuously - without the internet. To whit, I've finished my first remix in a couple years and edited an accompanying video. You might think I'd unplug more often, but I'd rather find a way to balance creativity and interactivity. Or merge them. Interacreativity.

And a new buzzword was born unto the world.

Anyhoo - since I don't have much time at the library on such a lovely Sunday, I'm putting the remix, the video, and some other versions in http://www.jasonbentley.org/music.

The song is "Royalty-Free Birthday Song" by Ice Weasels and it's presented under a Creative Commons Sampling Plus license. You're free to make further derivitive works, and as the title suggests, not worry about the royalties that otherwise accompany "Happy Birthday To You."

Wait, there's royalties attached to "Happy Birthday?" It's questionable, but many (especially the publishers) say yes. You can read all about it at the Wikipedia. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Happy_Birthday].

Here are the direct links:

Royalty-Free Birthday Song (Video) [approx. 106MB]
Royalty-Free Birthday Song (Mobfront Mix)
Royalty-Free Birthday Song (Mobfront Instrumental)
Royalty-Free Birthday Song (Mobfront Adagio Mix)
Royalty-Free Birthday Song (Original Mix)

If you downloaded the previously posted, unfinished remix, this is the final product and it supercedes the old one.
